We have been attacking our whole flat clutter clearing. My favourite areas have been putting a cabin bed in E's room all clutter tidied, thinned and stored under the bed creating a wicked room for her. We also just cleared an area for a desk for her too... Fantastic x
Quilt number one is done, quilt number 2 is on the go, I have a big box of things to ebay, a bag of clothes to go to the charity shop in the car and a box of things to take to the scrapstore. Going to blitz T's room this weekend, he is a very fast and good tidier and he has a friend coming over so he has a reason to clean.
The overflowing box is my box of things to leave the house. It's in the jumping room (as opposed to the quiet room, the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, the room that T is allowed to jump in, though not when a record is playing). The jumping room is in the middle of the house and you have to go through it to get to the kitchen so I pass this box a lot, and everytime I pass it I try to put something in it.
I'll take it to the scrapstore on Thursday, there is fabric in there, some games that T decluttered, a pillow, some books........when this one goes another empty box will take it's space.
Above the box is my sewing table and I'm busy sewing up scraps of material into quilts, decluttering something into something useful.
So proud of the children with all their de-cluttering and giving away to Freegle. Have also been able to give some very good books to my niece - which is nice!
Decluttering is more of a lifestyle round here, I always have a cardboard box under a table that I can just put stuff in when I pass it - so many boxes of our stuff have gone to the scrapstore that they have started to talk about how big my house must be for all that to have come out of it. It's not big, it's just full of crap. The picture is of the 'quiet room' and I've decluttered it to the extent that I can now paint it, which is what I was in the middle of doing (hence the ladder). It's beige with just the 2 alcoves and the space behind the woodburner in that strange orange colour - I choose paint colours mostly based on how much they are reduced by. This is a nice burnt umber that goes well in the room.
We got rid of the extra clutter in the living room by putting away toys that are not in use
We saw this and decided that this is something we can do and that its not just 'Mummy's job' as 'Mummy doesn't play with all the toys'. So we now have an agreement. The timer on my phone is set for 5 minutes, they chose a loud cockerel sound for the alarm, and we do a '5 minute challenge!' to see how much we can do in the 5 mins. The boys love it and we end up doing moe than one 5 minute challenge.
When the boys are sleeping or are happy playing without needing me, I set the timer for 15 minutes and do a 15 minute challenge of my own. LOL
My 5 year old told me that tidying up isn't hard when its a race. LOL
Ok, so havent been online for a while so have not been able to update my journal for a while. But this week ive been sorting my flat out and have emptied all the cupboards of junk, have now got places for certain items. It was quite fun i had my music on and had a few dances while clearing the clutter xxx
Some of the books which Molly and George have decided to give away. However at least half of the books will end up on my bookshelves as I just can't part with some of them so............my turn to clear my books!
Molly - I decided to give away all my Animal Hospital and Jungle in my Pocket on the local Freegle site. I have also had a big clear out of my book collection. Some I have passed on to my brother, some will go to my mum's school and the rest will go on Freegle! I have packed away my dolls house and all the furniture too.
George - I have given some of my books to my mum for her to use at school. I will also be packing away all my train stuff!
the house is looking much more tidy and the children have been fantastic at passing on to others the things they really don't use anymore. The house feels much calmer already.
We have both been doing really well with this - Tof voluntarily sorted out a box of toys yesterday! He says he is happier and calmer when his room is tidy!
I've been decluttering stored fabric into a patchwork quilt which should be finished next week and there is a big box to fill to take to the scrapstore next week too.
so we have been cleaning all day and now i am shattered lol!!! But it was defo worth it, the place looks alot cleaner and smells lush!!! Looking forward to tomorrow when i go and sort the other place out!!!! We had the music on so we were not distracted by the television. xxx
